March 02, 2017 | Women's Track and Field
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Aliyah Gustafson has been named second team All-MAC for her efforts at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday. Gustafson placed second in the weight throw and third in the shot put, giving the Falcons 14 teams points.
Gustafson's 14 team points were the most by an individual Falcon at the MAC Championship and she set new personal bests in both events. In fact, Gustafson broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 53-feet-6.75 (16.33m) and finished the year ranked 24th in the country in the event.
In the weight throw, Gustafson led a trio of Falcons among the top four finishers in the conference. She shattered her previous best by more than three feet on the way to a runner-up finish at 62-6.75 (19.07m). Teammates Elizabeth Iversen and Kayla Velasquez were third and fourth, respectively.
For Gustafson, it is her second career All-MAC honor. She was named first team All-MAC and an honorable mention All-American during the 2016 outdoor season after winning the conference championship in the shot put and advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
