Falcons Honored with CSCAA Scholar All-America Award

Bowling Green, OH – Based on their recent academic performance, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has awarded the Bowling Green's swimming and diving program with the Scholar All-America Award for this past Fall semester.
The CSCAA was founded in 1922 and it is the oldest organization of college coaches in America. The organization is dedicated to serve swimming and diving coaches and provide leadership for the advancement of the sport at the collegiate level. Each semester, the CSCAA recognizes qualifying programs as Scholar-All-America Teams.
A total of 638 teams representing 394 institutions were named College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Teams this year, breaking the record for most outstanding academic team performances ever recorded. In order to qualify for the award, a team must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in a semester. The Falcons recorded a 3.66 GPA this past Fall semester, earning this honor.
Only a few weeks away from finishing his second season as head coach for the program, Matthew Ense commented in regards of the team achieving an outsanding academic performance: "I am truly honored as a coach with how strong our athletes have been doing in the classroom. During the past three semesters they have stayed above a cumulative GPA of 3.62, which is something we could not be more proud of as a staff. We put a high emphasis on academic achievement and the team understands that they are here to get the best education possible and swimming while they do so is a privilege. If they ever need a day to get caught up on their academic load or time to meet with a professor they know the water will always be down at the pool but they need to stay in front of their studies to maintain a good balance of their academics and athletics commitments."
The Falcons are only two weeks away from this season's Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by the Miami Red Hawks from Feb. 22nd to Feb. 25th. Keep up with your Falcons as they take on this year's championships.
