Women's Golf Completes Second Round of Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Bowling Green women's golf team combined for a second round score of 318, +30 and sit 18th overall at the Rio Verde Invitational after Saturday's action. The Falcons carded 316, +28 in the first round, for a combined 634, +58 heading into Sunday's third and final round of play.
Leading the way for the Falcons is sophomore Erin Fahey, who currently sits tied for 23rd overall in a field of 103 players. On the second day of competition, the Austin, Texas native marked a score of 77, +5 for a two day total of 151, +7. Over the first 36-holes of action, Fahey has sunk a tournament-leading 30 par scores. Fahey also tops the Bowling Green squad with a 4.13, +2 average on par 4 scoring.
On the second day of competition, junior Madelynn Swank marked a round of 80, +8 for a two day total of 158, +14. A native of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Swank is currently tied for 65th overall and leads the team with a 3.20, +2 average on par 3 scoring, in addition to racking up 24 pars through the first two rounds.
By improving her score by four strokes on the second day, freshman Jessica Madry ranks third in the Falcons lineup with a two day total of 160, +16. Yesterday, Madry opened with a round of 82, and dramatically improved to shoot a 78 in today's second round. In addition to two birdies, the Houston, Texas native is averaging a 4.19, +3 on par 4 scoring.
Senior Fran Rodriguez tops the Falcons after the second day with a 5.20, +2 average on par 5 scoring. A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Rodriguez followed up her first round score of 82 with an 83 in today's competition. By marking a pair of birdies, Rodriguez currently sits tied for 90th overall.
Rounding out the Falcons lineup is sophomore Sarah Kern. The Springboro, Ohio native also improved her play on the second day by carding a second round score of 87, cutting four strokes off of her first round score of 91. Kern has marked a notable 11 pars and one birdie on her way to a two-day total of 178, +34.
Of the 19-team field, UMKC leads with a team score of 295, 296 – 591, +15 through the first two rounds of action. The Kangaroos' Chandler Gallagher also continues to lead individually with scores of 69, 72 – 141, -3.
