
Carly Santoro Named MAC Player of the Week

Junior honored after going off for 29, 13 and 6 vs. Valpo
Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Carly Santoro has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 6). Santoro earns the honor for the second time this season and the second time in her BGSU career.
Additionally, Santoro was named the conference's P-O-W by the College Sports Madness web site. She also earns this honor for the second time in 2017-18. She earned both league and CSM P-O-W honors on Nov. 13-14.

Falcons Host Xavier Wednesday Morning
Santoro, a native of Bellevue, Ohio (Bellevue H.S.), had a monster stat line of 29 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high six assists in the Falcons' lone game last week, a 90-77 win over Valparaiso (Nov. 28). She led the Falcons in all three categories in the win, and went 8-of-11 from the floor and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line.
The double-double was Santoro's sixth in seven games this season. She had a double-double in the second half alone, with 23 points and 10 boards after halftime. Santoro was 4-for-4 from the floor in the third quarter, with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in that period. Then, she had 12 points, five boards and two assists in the fourth period.
On the season, Santoro has 17.0 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, leading the Falcons in both categories. She also leads BG in steals (1.9 spg) and is tied for the team lead in assists (2.7 apg).
Santoro ended the month of November tied for third in the nation in double-doubles, and although the Falcons have been idle for a week, she is still in the top 10 (tied for seventh) in that category. She is ranked 10th in the country in rebounding, and is the nation's leading rebounder under 6-foot-0.
Santoro earned the league Player-of-the-Week honor for the East Division, Moriah Monaco of Ball State was named the MAC's West Division P-O-W.
Head coach Jennifer Roos and the Falcons are 6-1 on the season, heading into Wednesday morning's (Dec. 6) game vs. Xavier. The Falcons and Musketeers will meet in a School Day game, with tipoff scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Stroh Center.
