Seth Doege To Take Part In 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute

WACO, TEXAS – Bowling Green State University receivers coach Seth Doege has been named as a participant in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, presented by the American Football Coaches Foundation and NCAA Leadership Development. The prestigious program is aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession and will take place on Sunday, Jan. 7 during the 2018 AFCA Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
This year's class was chosen from a total of 138 applicants. In order to be eligible, applicants must have been born on or after January 1, 1983, and must be currently serving as a high school head coach, a two-year college full-time assistant or head coach, or an NAIA/NCAA full-time assistant or head coach. Applicants were required to submit a resume, five references, and a 1,600-word article on an Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams, or position-specific topic of the applicant's choosing.
Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute, which features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance. In addition to receiving this exclusive educational opportunity and becoming a part of the great network of rising coaches in the profession, participants will also receive other benefits, including a stipend to assist with 2018 AFCA Convention expenses n; publication in the bi-monthly AFCA Magazine, weekly AFCA Insider email blast, and/or have their articles added to the online AFCA Educational Library; and placement on the 2019 AFCA Foundation Committee.
A former NFL player and All-Big 12 star quarterback, Seth Doege completed his second season as receivers coach at BGSU in 2017. Doege, a 2011 graduate of Texas Tech University, was a first team Academic All-Big 12 recipient as a player.
Upon graduation from Texas Tech, Doege embarked on a professional football career in both the NFL and CFL. He played with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2013 season, and then played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He led the Roughriders to the playoffs in November of 2014.
At Texas Tech, Doege excelled on the football field in leading the Red Raiders offense. He earned All-Big 12 honors, was named MVP of the Meineke Car Care Bowl and was a semifinalist for the prestigious Davey O'Brien Award. Doege played in the East-West Shrine Game and earned AT&T All-America Player of the Week honors on numerous occasions. He finished the 2012 (senior) season second in the country with 39 passing touchdowns, second in the nation with 4,215 passing yards, and top five in completions, completion percentage, and yards per game.
