Bowling Green, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced Bowling Green's eight conference opponents for the 2017 season. The Falcons will play the same eight league foes in 2017 as they did in 2016, flipping home stadiums with each.
BGSU will host rival Toledo for the Battle of I-75. The Falcons will also host MAC East foes Akron and Ohio, as well as playing host to Northern Illinois, a team BGSU has faced in the MAC Championship game three times in the past four years.
Away games feature MAC East opponents Buffalo, Kent State and Miami, while the Falcons will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. for its lone road MAC West opponent in Eastern Michigan.
Bowling Green has already announced its non-conference schedule and the Falcons will open the season at Michigan State Sept. 2. Bowling Green will host South Dakota in the home opener Sept. 9 before closing non-conference play at Northwestern and at Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 16 and 23.
All dates for conference games will be announced by the MAC at a later time. Kick-off times for all 12 games will be available as the spring and summer progresses.
Season tickets are scheduled to go on sale Feb. 1 as part of National Signing Day. BGSU Football, which closed the season with three consecutive wins, continues to build momentum during the offseason. The 2017 recruiting class is poised to be one of the best in the MAC and one of the best in program history under second-year head coach Mike Jinks. The Falcons will open spring practice in March, leading into the spring football scrimmage April 8. Details on the spring scrimmage will be announced at a later date.
