BGSU To Play At Notre Dame In 2019

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Athletics Department has announced that it has signed a contract to play a football game at Notre Dame on Oct. 5, 2019. This will be the first time BGSU has faced Notre Dame and is currently scheduled to be just the fifth game in the Fighting Irish's history against a current Mid-American Conference school.
"We are excited to add a team as tradition-rich as Notre Dame to our non-conference schedule for the 2019 season," BGSU Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger said. "Not only will BGSU football student-athletes benefit from the game day experience, but this game will provide a great opportunity for our football season ticket holders, Falcon Club members and alumni."
In recent months, the Falcons have also announced games at Northwestern (Sept. 16, 2017), at Georgia Tech (Sept. 29, 2018) and at Tennessee (Sept. 4, 2021). But Notre Dame has arguably the most notable history in college football.
"Football players come to Bowling Green to play at the highest level against the best competition possible," BGSU Head Coach Mike Jinks said. "Notre Dame has a tradition as good as anybody. Playing under the shadow of Touchdown Jesus is something our student-athletes will never forget. We look forward to the opportunity."
In the last five years, BGSU has played college football powers such as Ohio State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Florida, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. The Falcons have defeated Maryland, Purdue, and Indiana in that same time frame.
Bowling Green has won two of the last three Mid-American Conference Championships and has advanced to three consecutive MAC Championship games. The Falcons have won 17 straight games against divisional opponents as they head into their conference opener Saturday against Eastern Michigan at 3 pm. That contest is BGSU's Homecoming and the 50th anniversary of Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
