Women's Soccer Downs Robert Morris In Exhibition Action
August 13, 2016 | Women's Soccer
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Bowling Green women's soccer program faced Robert Morris in exhibition play Saturday afternoon, and posted a 2-1 final on the road to kick off the 2016 season.
After RMU seized a 1-0 lead early in first half, the Falcons responded with goals in the 41st and 80th minutes to come back and take the match. Freshman midfielder Hannah Dolfuss was the first to strike with an unassisted blast 30 yards out that went in off the left post to even the field.
The match was then held at one goal apiece until the 80th minute, when redshirt sophomore Erica Hubert was able to attack with a diagonal through ball into the box, to tuck in the match winner inside the far right post. Hubert was assisted by freshman forward Rachel Muller.
"I'm happy with where we are at this stage of preseason," Bowling Green women's soccer head coach Lindsay Basalyga said. "We will have some decent film to work off on Monday as we head into our home opener next Friday."
The Falcons held a dominate edge of 17 shots to the Colonials' five throughout the 90 minutes. Goalkeeping duties were split, as redshirt senior Lauren Cadel tackled the first 45 minute half, while freshmen Victoria Cope and Kathleen Duwve shared the second half of the match.
To officially kick off the start of the 2016 campaign, Bowling Green will welcome Eastern Illinois to Cochrane Field on Friday, August 19 at 6 p.m.
