Aguascalientes, Mexico – As just one of 57 total players to make the cut and move on to rounds three and four on the weekend, Falcon golfer Jose Narro turned in a round of 74, +3, on Saturday to head into the final round of play on Sunday with a 54-hole score of 209, -4 under par, at the 58th annual Mexican Open (58 Abierto Mexicano) held at the par 71 Club Campestre de Aguascalientes in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Narro, who entered the day in a four-way tie for eighth-place overall, dropped 28 spots and into a tie for 36th with his round of 74, +3, on Saturday.
After a consistent first two rounds of play on Thursday and Friday, which included nine birdies and 26 pars, Narro was up-and-down on Saturday with three birdies, all on the back nine, and 11 pars. However, the rising senior was hampered by two double bogeys and two bogeys on the day.
Teeing-off on the front nine, Narro opened up the round with a bogey on the par 4 hole No. 1, but bounced back to shoot six straight pars. However, a bogey on the par 4 hole No. 7 and back-to-back pars on holes No. 8 and 9 sent him into the turn at 37, +2.
The amateur golfer opened up the back nine with a birdie on hole No. 10 to get back to +1 with eight holes left to play.
Following two consecutive pars on holes No. 11 and 12, Narro finished out his round with a double bogey, par, birdie, birdie and double bogey to end the back nine with a 37, +1, and a 18-hole round of 74, +3.
Narro will enter the final round of play on Sunday a total of 10 strokes back of the individual leader. He is scheduled to tee-off at the 9:37 a.m. local (10:37 a.m.) tee-time with Ken Looper of the U.S.A. and Juan Diego Fernandez Mac of Mexico.
As part of the first half of the 2016 PGA Tour Latinoamérica schedule, the Mexican Open is the National Open Championship for the Mexican Federation of Golf.
