Volleyball Announces 2015 Team Award Winners

Bowling Green, Ohio – With the Falcons' 2016 10-day European Tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Italy set for takeoff on Saturday, May 14, head volleyball coach Danijela Tomic and the volleyball program presented its 2015 team awards at a team gathering on Friday, May 13.

The 2015 volleyball team award winners were:

PAT PETERSON ACADEMIC AWARD - Isabel Kovacic (4.0 GPA - Chemistry)

Presented to the player who exemplifies academic excellence and has the highest GPA last two semesters (fall and spring).

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY AWARD - Madeline Brandewie (93 hours)

Presented to the player who made contributions to Bowling Green community by performing the most volunteering hours.
- A few of Madeline's service activities included:
  - Jenkins mission trip
  - Little/Jr. Falcons Volleyball Clinic
  - Brown Bag Food Organization
  - BG Community Center Volleyball Clinic
  - Rally Cap Sports
  - MLK Day of Service
  - Women in Sports

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - Madeline Brandewie & Isabel Kovacic

This is awarded to any player on the team as voted by the players and coaches. It is presented to the player who shows the most improvement over the duration of the season and demonstrates a willingness to learn and grow as a volleyball player.

FALCON AWARD - Delaney Arkeilpane

This is awarded to any player on the team as voted by the players and coaches. It is presented to the player who embraces our team values and exemplifies commitment, dedication and loyalty to the women's volleyball program.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - Jelena Sunjic

This is awarded to any player on the team as voted by the players and coaches. The winner will have had the largest impact on the team on and off the court in a positive way. Winning this award encompasses dedication to the team, putting teammates and coaches first, maximum effort at the player's position and contribution to the team being victorious.

BG WARRIOR AWARD - Alyssa Maloney

This is awarded to any player on the team voted by the players and coaches. Presented to the player who exhibits mental toughness on and off the court

COACHES AWARD - Madeline Garda

This is awarded to any player on the team voted by the coaching staff. Presented to the player who demonstrates the most leadership, team spirit, hard work, positive attitude and inspires everyone to perform better.

In addition to the team, the Falcons had a number of special guests present in Lou and Linda Katzner, Chris and Diane Burch, Carl Lipp and Pat Peterson. Coach Tomic presented Lou and Linda Katzner with the program's Supporter of the Year Award for 2015.
