Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will field two teams and host 14 other intuitions this weekend on April 9-10 at the 2016 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational held at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The two-day, 36-hole event is slated for 18 holes of play on both Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 5,960-yards Stone Ridge Golf Course – weather permitting.
"It is an honor to host the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational this weekend. We have a full slate of teams from all over the country in this competitive field. Coach Black is well respected by former coaches and players alike. She always did whatever was needed to support and encourage them and further the game for women's college golf," commented head coach Stephanie Young. "Dolores has undoubtedly had a lasting impact on this program's rich history and tradition. Our aim is to continue to carry on that legacy for her and for our great university- BGSU."
The sixth annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational field will include Ashland University, Boston University, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dartmouth College, Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Ferris State, Findlay, Illinois-Chicago, Northern Kentucky, Niagara, Ohio, Youngstown State and two lineups from BGSU.
One lineup for the Falcons and Coach Young will be Lily Bartell, Erin Fahey, Fran Rodriguez, Hannah Lewis and Madelynn Swank.
"The team is excited to get back out and compete at home. It is a one time, unique opportunity to play in front of so many friends, family and special supporters. However, the focus doesn't change; it is just like any tournament on the road when it comes to the game plan and mental toughness," Young continued. "The key will be to invest our energies on the things we can control. I know this team is prepared to achieve something special out at Stone Ridge this weekend."
Coming off an 11th-place finish at the EKU Colonel Classic one week ago, Bartell will tee-off for the Falcons at the No. 1 spot for the fourth straight tournament.
