Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program and head coach Danijela Tomic are excited to announce the signing of Isabelle Marciniak (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford Senior H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent to continue both her academic and athletic career at BGSU beginning in the summer of 2016.
A 5-10 setter, Marciniak lettered for four years for head coach Jodi Manore and the Kicking Mules of Bedford Senior High School in Lambertville, Mich. where she served as the team captain as a senior in 2015. She is a two-time Michigan Class-A All-State selection, earning first-team honors as a senior and second-team recognition her junior season, and was named to the Michigan Class A All-Region Team as a junior in 2015. A three-time Southeastern Conference (SEC) First-Team selection, Marciniak was also a three-time Monroe Evening News All-Region honoree, twice as a setter and once as an outside hitter as a sophomore in 2013.
"We are thrilled to welcome Isabelle to our program. With her character, competitiveness, athleticism, skills, work ethic and winning attitude, she fits perfectly into our team culture," Coach Tomic stated. "Isabelle is a versatile player who transitioned from playing as a hitter to being a setter, and that change made her a better overall volleyball player. I am looking forward to seeing Isabelle grow and develop into one of the best MAC setters."
Recognized nationally as a MaxPreps/AVAC Player of the Week in August of her junior season, Marciniak led the Kicking Mules to an overall four year record of 257-40-7 during her high school career, which also included four straight SEC League Championships. She guided her team to three straight Michigan Class-A Final Fours in 2012, 2013 and 2014 with her squad finishing as the Michigan Class A Runner-Ups in 2012.
In the classroom, Marciniak is a four-time Michigan Class-A Academic All-State Team member and a four-time Scholar-Athlete Award winner. She was also recognized as an M.E.C.A. Academic Star, is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as a D.A.R.E. role model.
A member of the Premier Volleyball Academy, Marciniak's club teams coached by head coach Jodi Schramm have finished second-place overall at the AAU Nationals in 2013 and finished in eighth-place at the 2014 AAU Nationals event. In March of this year, Marciniak was named the Asics Midwest Power League MVP and was selected for the JVA Watch List produced by the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA). This award recognizes JVA member club players for outstanding achievement on the volleyball court.
Marciniak will join a 2016 freshmen signing class of Jessi Holly, Celena Kanagin, Macie Linne and Patricia Koutsoukos who all joined the BGSU volleyball program for the spring semester in January 2016.
