Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University senior forward Spencer Parker was recognized as an All-MAC Honorable Mention selection by the head coaches and league media members on Monday, Mar. 7, as the Mid-American Conference office announced its men's basketball postseason awards.
Parker has had his best season statistically as a Falcon in 2015-16, as he leads the team with a career-high 14.3 points and is second on the team with a career-high 5.3 rebounds per game overall. He is shooting 46.5 percent from the field overall, 42.9 percent from behind the three-point line and 71.0 percent from the free throw line over 31 games of play thus far this season.
The Detroit, Michigan native, who has totaled 444 point this season, became the 43rd player in BGSU men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points, reaching the career milestone with a three-pointer in the first half of play at home against Akron on Feb. 9. He currently ranks 34th overall on BGSU's scoring list with 1,127 career points over his four years as a Falcon.
He has totaled double digit points in 24 games on the season, which includes nine 20-plus point games, and has recorded three double-doubles on the year. Parker scored a career-high 33 points on the road at Detroit on Dec. 12, 2015 in non-conference play.
In MAC play this season, Parker led the Falcons with 15.0 points per game and averaged 4.7 rebounds per contest. Over the 18-game conference slate, he shot 44.7 percent from the field, 46.5 percent from behind the three-point line and 75.5 percent from the charity stripe.
For his career as a Falcon, Parker enters Monday night's 2016 MAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com at Kent State with 1,127 career points, 468 career rebounds, 129 career assists, 66 career steals and 28 career blocks over 111 career games.
BGSU will tip-off against No. 5 Kent State tonight, Mar. 7, at 7 p.m. ET inside the M.A.C. Center in the first round of the 2016 MAC Championship Tournament.
