Broncos Top Falcons, 6-1

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team suffered its second loss in conference play, 6-1, to the Broncos of Western Michigan Sunday at Sorenson Courts. The Broncos took an early lead capturing the doubles point and came up big in singles to pull off the victory.
In doubles, senior Drew Fillis and freshman Paula Comella improve their record to 10-3 after defeating Tracy Kuhle and Melina Lyubomirova. The duo was behind 3-2, but quickly answered back tying the match at 3-3, then again at 4-4. Kuhle and Lyubomirova were held to four games when the Falcons captured the match, 6-4.
At No. 2, sophomore Emily Witt and freshman Polina Radeva dropped a 7-5 decision to Barbare Eristavi and Katja Fevralev. Witt and Radeva fought to the finish, rallying to tie the match at 3-3. In a nip-and-tuck battle, the two doubles teams answered each other game-by-game, tying the match at 5-5. Eristavi and Fevralev held Witt and Radeva at five by winning the next two games to take the match.
In singles, Comella at No. 1 provided the lone point of the match when she rallied to defeat Lyubomirova. Comella lost the first set, 6-2, then flipped the score in her favor capturing the second set, 6-2, to force a third set. In the third set, Comella held Lyubomirova to one game, winning the set 6-1.
Bowling Green will return to action April 1 when the Falcons head north to Toledo, Ohio for the Battle of I-75 at 1 p.m.
