February 08, 2016 | Men's Soccer
Bowling Green State University men's soccer coach Eric Nichols and his staff have announced the addition of four student-athletes to the program. Chris Brennan (Copley, Ohio), Mitchell Evans (Troy, Ohio), Charlie Maciejewski (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Robert Miller III (York, Pa.) will join the Falcons in the fall of 2016.

"Each of the three attacking guys, Chris, Charlie and Robert, bring a slightly different set of skills that will complement our style well," said Nichols. "One attribute they share is an ability to score goals ... these guys know how to find the back of the net. And with Mitchell we have a player has that combination of toughness and savvy that will make him a versatile option for us on the back half of our team and the potential to have a huge impact."
Brennan, a native of Copley, Ohio, earned four letters at Copley H.S., where he became the school's all-time leading scorer. A three-time All-Ohio First-Team selection, he was named Ohio's Mr. Soccer in Division I in 2014. He was also the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Player of the Year that season, and was named Ohio's Gatorade Player of the Year by USA Today in '14. In 2015, Brennan was one of 56 players, but only three repeat selections, named to the NSCAA Boys' Fall High School All-America Team. Brennan led the Indians to Suburban League titles in both his junior and senior seasons after second-place finishes in his first two years. He had seven goals and a pair of assists as a freshman, then registered 18 goals and six helpers in his sophomore campaign. Brennan had 63 points on 23 goals and 17 assists as a junior, as Copley finished 20-1-1, earning sectional, district and regional titles and advancing all the way to the state semifinals. In his senior season, Brennan had 65 points on 28 goals and 10 assists, helping the Indians to a 15-3-1 record. He was named the 2015 SL Player of the Year. He finished his career with 76 goals and 35 assists, for a whopping total of 187 points. He was named to the West Team for the High School All-American game, held in Raleigh, N.C., in December of 2015. Brennan has played club ball for Team Challenger Crew Juniors.
Evans, a native of Troy, Ohio, earned four letters at Troy H.S. An All-Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) first-team selection for the Trojans as a junior, he missed his entire senior season due to injury. Evans scored 10 goals and added four assists as a junior, and was named to the Miami Valley Coaches Association first team that season. He scored four goals as a sophomore and was named second-team All-GWOC North. Evans and the Trojans went 12-5-1 in 2014 after posting a 13-3-3 record the previous year. He has played club ball for Ohio Galaxies 97 Elite, and also played for the Ohio South State Team from 2009-13.
Maciejewski, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, earned four letters at The Summit Country Day School. He was the Ohio Division III Player of the Year in 2015, scoring 22 goals and adding 29 assists as the Silver Knights won a third state championship in his four years. Maciejewski was the Miami Valley Conference Player of the Year as a senior as well, and he was named to the 2015 NSCAA Boys' Fall High School All-America Team. The Silver Knights outscored opponents, 43-0, during the 2015 state tournament, including a 9-0 win in the championship game. Summit Country Day went 72-10-6 during his four seasons, capturing state crowns in his freshman, sophomore and senior campaigns. The Silver Knights had a record of 31-1 in the postseason during those four years. Maciejewski, a two-time captain for his high-school team, has played club ball for Kings Hammer Academy.
Miller, a native of York, Pa., will graduate from Central York H.S. this spring. He has attended several other schools including YSC Academy, a private high school affiliated with the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. Miller has not played high school soccer, but has played for both the Union's U-15/16 and U-17/18 teams as well as the PA Classics of BGSU Hall-of-Famer Steve Klein. He has played with the latter program's academy team, and started every match in the fall, scoring nine goals.Â
"We never truly know how good a class will be for a few seasons," said Nichols. "But this class has the potential to be really special."
The 2015 Falcons finished the season with an overall record of 9-9-1, and BGSU has won 25 matches over the last two seasons. Nichols and his staff lose just three seniors – Jake Genrich, Ryan James and Jake Martin – from the 2015 roster.
