Jaguars Sneak Past Falcons, 4-3

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team lost a close match to the IUPUI Jaguars Sunday morning, 4-3. The Falcons won the doubles point, but the Jaguars rallied back in singles play picking up four victories.
At No. 1 doubles, senior Drew Fillis and freshman Paula Comella Aguilo kept their winning streak alive defeating Samantha Mayer and Sara Sherif, 6-1. The win was the fourth straight for Fillis and Aguilo, who are now 6-2 this season.
Freshmen Polina Radeva and Marina Ferrero captured their second victory of the weekend against Rachel Swartwood and Valeriia Lavernchuk at No. 2 doubles. The duo defeated the Jaguars, 6-4.
In singles play, Radeva at No. 1 singles – also on a streak of her own – battled Lavernchuk in two close sets. Lavernchuk won four games in each set but it was not enough to defeat Radeva, who won both sets, 6-4 to take the match.
At No. 2 singles, Aguilo blanked Swartwood 6-0, 6-0 to capture her sixth win of the season.
BGSU will return to competition Saturday, Feb. 27, with a home match against Chicago State at 5:30 p.m. at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
