Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University indoor track and field team gets the 2016-17 season underway Friday and Saturday at the Golden Flashes Gala, hosted by Kent State. Field events begin at 12:30 pm Friday and then again at 10 am Saturday. Running events start at 11 am Saturday.
The Falcons begin the 2016 season looking to improve on an eighth-place finish a year ago at the MAC Indoor Championships. BGSU scored 39 team points at the league meet a year ago.
In part one of this week's three-part preview of the season, we break down the throws under new throws coach Derrick Vicars. Parts two and three are scheduled for release Wednesday and Thursday leading into the opener Friday.
"This year's group of throwers is a talented group that enters the year with a lot of experience," Vicars said. "This is a hardworking group that has the potential to do very well in the Mid-American Conference and I am excited to get the season underway."
