Eight Falcons Placed On Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team had eight student-athletes earn a spot on the 2016 Academic All-MAC Team in Delaney Arkeilpane, Madeline Brandewie, Madeline Garda, Isabel Kovacic, Alyssa Maloney, Katie Scholten, Kallie Seimet and Nicole Slimko, the conference office announced on Dec. 5.
Arkeilpane, Garda and Maloney have now been named to the Academic All-MAC Team the last three years, which is the most selections possible, due to the fact that freshmen and transfer players are not eligible their first year at the new school.
Slimko and Scholten are now two-time selections, as the juniors were named to last year's Academic All-MAC Team. Sophomores Brandewie, Kovacic and Seimet earned the honor in their first year of eligibility.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests scheduled or completed in the particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
By putting eight Falcons on the team, Bowling Green tied for third most in the conference. Kent State and Northern Illinois also placed eight on the team, while Toledo led the conference with 10, and Akron was close behind with nine.
