Training Trip Day Five
December 22, 2016 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Naples, FL – The Bowling Green State University swimmers and divers are currently enjoying the sun at Naples, Florida, as they focus on their training trip for the 2016-17 season.
The Falcons are only two months away from finishing the 2016-17 season. Quoting second year head coach, Matt Ense, "Training trip is not only a time for the swimmers and divers to work hard, but also to do some quality team bonding. Also with school being done, they can put all of their focus on their practices and recovery time, which is crucial at this point of the season".
Junior Falcon, Natalie Criswell will be blogging daily to keep fans updated. You can find her blog for the first day of training trip below:
Day five started at 5:15 with a full team water workout. We were split into 2 groups – sprint and mid-distance – with each group doing a speed set. For sprinters that consisted of 60x 50m with every 6th 50 all out sprint for time, while the mid-distance and distance groups did 18x 100m best average for time. Getting to see how the team worked through the set with positive words and laughter made it a great practice. After swimming we had an optional spin or yoga class at the Greater Naples YMCA. The entire team chose to go to another workout over going back to the hotel, making Coach Matt and Jax really happy to see the leadership and dedication on the team in choosing to do another workout. After spin and yoga, we headed back to the condos to pack our bags and grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the Red Coconut RV park. Hannah Albion's family friends own this park and it's located right on Fort Myers beach, so it was a great chance for us to explore another beach. They let us use their kayaks and made us a great homemade lunch. We spent the rest of the afternoon there napping on the beach, hunting for seashells, having photo shoots, and checking out the attractions on the pier. Although the weather was overcast, it was a much needed day of relaxing. Tomorrow will be the last full day of our training trip and it will start bright and early with swimming at 5:15 a.m.
Keep up with your Falcons at training trip daily, as they get ready for the final part of the 2016-17 season.
