Flynn, Roth Named to MAC All-Tournament Team
November 13, 2016 | Men's Soccer
Bowling Green State University men's soccer seniors Pat Flynn and Jacob Roth were named to the Mid-American Conference All-Tournament Team on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 13). The announcement was made at the conclusion of this year's tourney at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field in Akron.
Roth was named to the league's all-tournament team for the second time in his career, while Flynn earned the honor for the first time.
Roth played all 94 minutes of the Falcons' semifinal match vs. Buffalo on Friday (Nov. 11), and played all but 30 of the team's 1821-plus minutes this season. He had two shot attempts vs. the Bulls, and scored BG's lone goal on a second-half penalty kick. On the year, Roth had 10 points, and he scored 42 total points in his career, all coming in the last three seasons. Roth was a perfect 8-for-8 on penalty kicks in his BG tenure.
Flynn was dangerous on the BG attack, both on Friday vs. UB and during his three-year Falcon career. He had one shot attempt against the Bulls, and was pulled down in the box as he headed past a defender, on the play that resulted in the Roth PK. Flynn led the Falcons in scoring in each of his three seasons in Northwest Ohio, and had 14 points this season and 68 in his BG career. He ranks among the school's top-10 scorers in both goals (28) and points.
The Falcons went 9-6-4 on the season. All six losses came by a single goal, with two coming in overtime. After being picked to finish fifth, BGSU went 2-0-3 in MAC regular-season play to place second in the six-team league.
