MAC Announces 2016-17 Basketball Television Schedule
October 19, 2016 | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
Official Release
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its television schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 basketball season Wednesday (Oct. 19) afternoon. This year's men's and women's television package, which includes both national and regional broadcasts, is the most extensive in conference history.
Across the 2016-17 season, four networks – ESPN, CBS Sports Network, American Sports Network and BCSN/Time Warner Cable Sports Channel – are scheduled to produce a total of seven BGSU basketball games. That number includes four women's games, and three men's games.
In addition, ESPN, CBS Sports Network and BCSN have a built in wildcard-game system for the men's schedule, which will move games onto the television schedule. The wildcard system could move a Saturday game to Friday, or result in a time change for an originally scheduled Saturday game. Schools will be notified at least 14 days in advance if a game is being picked up as a wildcard selection. All games that are picked up by the American Sports Network and BCSN/Time Warner Cable Sports Channel will also be aired on ESPN3.
On the women's side, a total of four games will be shown on BCSN, while one game will appear on the American Sports Network. The Falcons' Feb. 8 game at Ball State will be shown on the American Sports Network at 7 p.m.
BGSU's Jan. 25 (7 p.m.) matchup at Eastern Michigan will be aired on BCSN. On Feb. 11, the Battle of I-75 at Toledo is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip on BCSN. BCSN will also air Bowling Green's Feb. 15 game versus Western Michigan inside the Stroh Center at 7 p.m. Additionally, both MAC Tournament semifinal games on March 10 will air on BCSN, while the MAC Tournament Championship is scheduled to appear on the CBS Sports Network on March 11.
On the men's side, three games will appear on television. Bowling Green's home game on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. versus Eastern Michigan will be shown on the American Sports Network, while the Falcons' Battle of I-75 matchup at Toledo on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. will be picked up by BCSN. BGSU's Feb. 21 game at the Stroh Center versus Akron will also be shown on BCSN. The game, which was originally slated to begin at 7 p.m., has been moved to a 9 p.m. tip.
All four MAC Tournament quarterfinal matchups on March 9 will also be aired on BCSN, while both semifinal games on March 10 will be shown on the CBS Sports Network. The MAC Tournament Championship will be aired on ESPN2 on March 11.
