Parker Named Madness Mid-American Conference Player of the Week

Men's Basketball Madness Conference Players of the Week (Jan. 17)

Bowling Green, Ohio – For the second time this season, senior Spencer Parker was named the Madness Mid-American Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com).

He also received the weekly recognition on Nov. 30, while fellow teammate Zack Denny picked up the weekly nod on Dec. 7.

Parker posted back-to-back 20-plus point games last week to lead the Falcons to two straight MAC road wins at Ohio and Eastern Michigan. He paced the Falcons with an average of 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this past week over the two conference victories. He also shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) overall and shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.

In the come from behind win over Ohio on Jan. 12, Parker, who tallied 15 points in the second half alone, led the way with a game-high 22 points for his fourth 20-plus scoring game of the season. The Falcons trailed by as much as 14 points to the Bobcats, but outscored Ohio 58-37 in the final 20 minutes of play to come away with the win.

Parker scored a team-high 21 points in the win at Eastern Michigan on Jan. 16, including 12 second-half points, as the forward was 7-of-12 from the field overall. He also added seven rebounds which was tied for the team lead and passed out five assists in the win.

The four-year senior leads the Falcons in scoring with 14.1 points per game this season and has tallied five 20-plus point games this year.

Bowling Green (12-5, 3-1 MAC) will host the Battle of I-75 on Tuesday night, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. inside the Stroh Center.
