Six Former Falcons Set To Play In Postseason All-Star Games
January 13, 2016 | Football
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Six former Bowling Green State University standouts have accepted invitations to play in postseason all-star games following the conclusion of their careers in the Orange and Brown. Alex Huettel will play in the East-West Shrine Game, Travis Greene and Matt Johnson will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, while Ryan Burbrink, Zach Colvin and Derek Lee will participate in the inaugural Tropic Bowl.
Huettel, a three-time All-Mid-American Conference player at right guard, will become the first player from BGSU since Alex Bayer in 2014 to play in the East-West Shrine Game. A native of Pickerington, Ohio, Huettel started all 55 games consecutively in his career – a school record. He will be just the 12th player from BGSU all-time to play in the East-West Shrine Game, joining Falcon greats such as Bernie Casey, Brian McClure, Scott Mruczkowski, Freddie Barnes, and Bayer. Huettel will play on the West team, coached by head coach June Jones. Huettel is the only player from the Mid-American Conference on the West team, and one of just three players total from the MAC.
