BGSU Hockey Adds Two Defensemen For Second Semester

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Hockey Coach Chris Bergeron has announced the addition of defensemen Jordan Ernst and Adam Smith to the hockey roster. Both players will be eligible to play as soon as the Dec. 30 game against Western Michigan.
"We are excited to have Jordan and Adam join the BGSU Hockey family," Bergeron said. "They will provide internal competition on a daily basis and will have the opportunity to earn a regular spot in our lineup."
Ernst spent the first half of the 2015-16 season with the Madison Capitols of the USHL. He had four assists and 24 penalty minutes in 16 games for the Capitols. In 2014-15, he played for Chicago Mission U18 in the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL). He had nine goals and 12 assists in 26 games. Ernst was an all-state player at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Ill., graduating in June of 2015.
Smith will join the Falcons after playing for the Newmarket Hurricanes of the OJHL. He played in 110 games with Newmarket, recording 37 points (nine goals and 28 assists) and 100 penalty minutes. He is a 2014 graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School and is a native of Sharon, Ontario.
BGSU Hockey, ranked No. 12 in the country according to the USCHO.com poll, will face Western Michigan Wednesday at 5:07 pm at the Huntington Center in Toledo. The Falcons will then return to the BGSU Ice Arena to host Clarkson Saturday and Sunday with puck drops scheduled for 7:07 pm and 5:07 pm. BGSU ended the first half of the season with a record of 11-3-5 overall and 8-2-4 in WCHA play, currently in second place in the league standings.
