Lauren Cadel Receives 2015 Fighting Falcon Award
December 16, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Bowling Green, Ohio – Redshirt junior goalkeeper Lauren Cadel was award the coveted Leslie Dawley "Fighting Falcon" Award this season, as voted on by fellow team members.
Senior Haley Parkinson, last year's recipient, presented Cadel with the award. She said, "Lauren is extremely deserving of this year's Fighting Falcon award. She has been a tremendous role model setting the bar through her actions and words and is an outstanding captain for our young team".
The Leslie Dawley "Fighting Falcon" Award is given to the team member who, through words and actions, most accurately reflects the program's philosophy of "Today I gave all that I have, for everything I left behind is gone forever".
"The Fighting Falcon award is the only award we give out at the end of the season," said head coach Lindsay Basalyga. "As Haley mentioned, Lauren is extremely deserving. Lauren has grown through her own adversity and continues to thrive in every challenge that has been put in front of her over the past four seasons. We are fortunate to have Lauren leading our team for another year as she enters her fifth year at Bowling Green."
The award was renamed to honor Leslie Dawley, a Falcon student-athlete who entered BGSU in the fall of 2002 and played with the team during the 2002 season before passing away in November of that year.
