Tomic, Falcons Add Patricia Koutsoukos
December 14, 2015 | Volleyball
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University volleyball head coach Danijela Tomic is pleased to announce the addition of Patricia Koutsoukos (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia/Casimir Catholic College) to the Falcons' program beginning in Jan. 2016. Koutsoukos will join early signees Jessi Holly, Celena Kanagin and Macie Linne on campus in the spring of 2016.
"I am thrilled to have Patricia join our program in January. She will not only add much needed depth to our setter position, but will also make our team better with her character, passion for the game, and strong work ethic on the court and in the classroom," stated Coach Tomic. "I believe that her courage to come from the other side of the globe to pursue her dream of playing and studying in the United States will be inspirational for the rest of our team. I am also excited that Patricia comes from the club that trains their setters the same way that we do, so her learning curve should not be too big and she will adjust to our offensive system quickly."
As the team captain at Casimir Catholic College under head coach David Farrugia, Koutsoukos led her team to become regional champions in 2014 and was the starting setter for the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC) State Championship team.
Koutsoukos, who was a 2014 recipient of the Blue Award which is awarded to only two female volleyball players in the entire state, has played club volleyball for coach Ovid Prosilis and for three different programs in the Endeavour Academy Volleyball Club, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Volleyball Club and the Endeavour High Performance club team.
In 2015, she was the starting setter for the Endeavour High Performance team at the Australian Volleyball League national level trial matches and was the setter for both the Endeavour Honours Opens Women's State League Team and the Endeavour 19U State Championship team. Koutsoukos was also the setter for the UNSW team that were the Manly State Cup Gold Medalists and was the MVP for the Endeavour 19U Team at the NSW State Volleyball League.
The Australia native also played for the NSW State Representative 19U Team at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships (AJVC) in 2014 and was the setter for the Endeavour Women's Division 1 team at the Sydney Volleyball League. Koutsoukos was part of both the UNSW Penrith State Cup Silver Medalists and the UNSW Good Neighbour National Tournament Bronze Medalists team in 2014.
