Feely Shines In Final Intrasquad Prior To Regular Season

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team held its annual Orange and Brown intrasquad meet on Friday night in front of a crowd of over 50 fans inside Anderson Arena.
The event began with senior Caroline Ellingboe singing the National Anthem alongside BGSU diver Rachel Perry. The team started on balance beam and followed with floor exercise, vault and concluded with uneven bars.
A total of 11 gymnasts competed for Bowling Green, including five freshmen. Newcomer Julia Beyer participated in three out of the four events, scoring a 9.650 (balance beam), 9.775 (floor exercise) and 9.650 (vault).
"They were ready to go and they were well prepared," said head coach Kerrie Turner. "I was really pleased with Julia Beyer. She's someone who will participate on several events for us."
Junior Lauren Feely was the only Falcon to compete on all four events, totaling a 39.150 all-around score. Her previous career-best was a 38.975 at the Chicago Style Meet in 2014. Feely scored a 9.875, the highest score of the night, on vault. She also received scores of 9.750 on balance beam, 9.850 on floor exercise and 9.675 on uneven bars.
"Lauren Feely had a great night and that was really pleasing to see her step up and show some leadership," added Turner.
BGSU will open its season against Arizona State and University of Nebraska on Jan. 8 in Tempe, Ariz.
