April 17, 2014 | Gymnastics
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Gymnastics Coach Kerrie Turner has announced that Jordan Rae has signed her letter of intent to compete for BGSU Gymnastics beginning in the fall of 2014.
"I am incredibly excited to have Jordan joining our program this fall," Turner said. "She brings a wealth of competitive experience internationally, and I have no doubt that she will be an immediate contributor to our program. Jordan has a beautiful artistic quality to her gymnastics and a large repertoire of skills. She is going to push our lineups on every event and continue to build the success of our program in coming years."
Rae is the daughter of Chris Rae and Jeanine Bryce and hails from Auckland, New Zealand. She attended Baradene College of the Sacred Heart, graduating in 2012. She earned the school's most outstanding performance award in both 2010 and 2011 and was an ASB College Sports Woman of the Year finalist in 2011 and 2012.
She was selected to compete for the 2010 senior international New Zealand Pacific Rim Team and competed for New Zealand's Commonwealth Games Team in Delhi, India. At the Commonwealth games, Rae placed fifth on vault and 12th in the all-around. Her ability took her to Rotterdam, the Netherlands for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2010 and to Tokyo, Japan for the same event in 2011. Rae was selected as a first reserve for the 2012 Olympic Games in Artistic Gymnastics.
Rae joins five other Falcons who committed in November as part of the 2014 incoming class. Morgan Denlinger (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield HS / Prestige Gymnastics Club), Taylor Livingston (Hartland, Mich. / Hartland HS / Geddert's Twisters Gymnastics Club) and Shannon Goniwiecha (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Stoney Creek HS / Oakland Gymnastics) all signed National Letters of Intent to compete at Bowling Green. Kylie Bosco (Downers Grove, Ill. / Downers Grove North HS / Illinois Gymnastics Institute) and McKenna Schoenberger (Tecumseh, Mich. / Tecumseh HS / Maple City Gymnastics) will join the Falcons as walk-ons.
The Bowling Green Gymnastics program is coming off of its best season in 22 years, finishing third at the MAC Championships after ending third in the MAC regular season. The Falcons sent three gymnasts to the NCAA Regional Championships in the all-around. Sophomore Alyssa Nocella was named first team All-MAC and Lauren Feely was named second team all-conference, also earning MAC Freshman of the Year honors. Junior Amanda Lievendag earned All-MAC Tournament honors, while Nocella and junior Gina Locigno are set to return after advancing to NCAA Regionals for the second time in each of their careers. Turner was the 2013 MAC Coach of the Year and will look to continue the upward trajectory of the program.
