Additionally, BGSU redshirt junior Erica Donovan was selected to the Preseason All-MAC Team.
Total votes were not released by the league office, but the Falcons of third-year head coach Jennifer Roos were picked to finish behind Buffalo, and ahead of – in order – Akron, Ohio, Miami and Kent State.
The Bulls received eight votes to win the East, while the Falcons garnered three votes and Ohio one.
BGSU won the East Division last winter, giving the Falcons nine divisional crowns in the last 10 seasons. The Brown and Orange finished with a league mark of 17-1 last year, posting the best overall record in the MAC for the eighth time in that 10-year span. The Falcons lost three senior starters off of last year's team.
Donovan is BG's top returning scorer, having averaged 10.9 points per game a year ago. The San Antonio, Texas, native also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest, earning All-MAC honorable mention in her first playing season with the Brown and Orange. She played in all 35 games, making 34 starts.
Roos and her staff – assistant coaches Jesse Fleming, Jacey Brooks and Sahar Nusseibeh and director of operations Monique Rosati – welcome back six returning letterwinners, including two starters, from the 2013-14 team. That squad went 30-5 overall, winning at least 20 games for the 11th consecutive year and recording the second-highest win total in school and MAC history. The Brown and Orange advanced to national postseason play for the 10th consecutive March, winning three games in the WNIT before falling in the quarterfinal round to eventual tourney champion Rutgers.
In addition to the six returnees, the Falcons' roster features four newcomers, as well as two players who redshirted last winter. The 12-player roster includes two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores, two redshirt freshmen and the four true frosh.
Central Michigan was picked to win the West Division in '14-15, followed by Ball State, Western Michigan, Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois. CMU received 11 first-place votes, while BSU received one.
Ten of the 12 coaches picked CMU to capture the MAC Tournament crown in 2015, while Ball State and Buffalo each received one vote.
Fans will get their first chance to see the Falcons in action a week from Friday, Nov. 7, when BGSU takes on Davis & Elkins in an exhibition game at the Stroh Center. The game is the second half of a Falcon hoops doubleheader, with the BGSU men's team hosting Notre Dame College at 4:30 p.m. and the women's game starting at 7:30 p.m.
The regular season begins one week later – Friday, Nov. 14 – when the Falcons host Bucknell at the Stroh. Single-game and season tickets are on sale now.
