Paige Penrod Named MAC East Offensive Player Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green junior left side Paige Penrod was named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week after being named to the Purdue Active Ankle Challenge All-Tournament team over the weekend.
Penrod helped the Falcons to a 2-1 record on the week that included a pair of four-set victories over UAB and Jacksonville State. She averaged 4.91 kills per set and 5.41 points per set, totaling at least 14 kills in each of the three matches. She had a weekend high 21 in the win over Jacksonville State and added 19 in the victory over UAB. On top of those powerful offensive numbers, she averaged 2.55 digs per set, was perfect in 58 serve receive attempts, and had six blocks.
It marks the third time Penrod has earned a MAC Player of the Week honor but the first time in 2012. She was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week once as a sophomore in 2011 and was MAC East Defensive Player of the Week once as a freshman in 2010.
Bowling Green is 4-7 on the season and will play its home opener this weekend. The Falcons open MAC play Friday night against defending MAC East champion Ohio in the Stroh Center at 7 p.m. and will follow that up with a home match against Kent State Saturday at 7 p.m.
