Calhoun Named Preseason All-MAC; Falcons Picked Fifth

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University senior forward A'uston Calhoun was named one of five members of the Mid-American Conference's East Division Preseason All-MAC team, by vote of the league's 24-member MAC media panel. As well, the Falcons were picked to finish fifth in the East Division preseason poll.
Calhoun, who was named second team All-MAC a year ago, started all 32 games in 2011-12 and averaged a team-best 13.6 points per game. In conference action, he ranked fifth in the MAC at 15.1 points and shot 50.3 percent from the floor. For the entire season, Calhoun shot 48.5 percent from the floor and averaged 5.9 rebounds per contest.
Calhoun joined Akron's Zeke Marshall, Buffalo's Javon McCrea, and Ohio's Walter Offutt and D.J. Cooper on the East Division Preseason All-MAC team. The West Division Preseason All-MAC Team consisted of Ball State's Jesse Berry, Northern Illinois' Abdel Nader, Toledo's Rian Pearson and Julius Brown, and Western Michigan's Nate Hutcheson.
In the preseason league standings, Bowling Green was picked to finish fifth in the East, ahead of Miami. Ohio was selected to win the division, followed by Akron, Kent State and Buffalo. In the West, Toledo was picked first and Eastern Michigan was second. The Eagles were followed by Western Michigan, Ball State, Northern Illinois and Central Michigan.
Bowling Green hosts an exhibition game Sunday against Central State beginning at 2 p.m. The Falcons then open the regular season at home against Lake Erie Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
