Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green volleyball players Laura Avila and Kari Galen were named to the Mid-American Conference Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team Thursday, while Lindsey Butterfield, Libby Dachenhaus, Ashley Dunn, and Emily Kauth earned academic honorable mention honors.
The Academic All-MAC Team is voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residency are not eligible for the award.
Avila started all 31 matches as Bowling Green's setter during her sophomore season in 2011, playing in every set. Her 4.02 digs per set ranked seventh in the MAC and her 25 aces were third-best on the team. Dunn closed the season with 19 consecutive double-digit dig matches and early in the season she was named to the South Florida Invitational All-Tournament team.
