Story No. 2 From 2010-11: Anderson Arena Closes Its Doors On Basketball And Volleyball

Throughout the summer, the Bowling Green State University Athletics Department will be counting down the top 10 stories of the 2010-11 year. The list was compiled and voted on by members of the Athletics Department administration and Athletic Communications department. We'll release the list one at a time until announcing the No. 1 moment on Aug. 2.
Anderson Arena Closes Its Doors On Basketball And Volleyball
Since opening in 1960-61, Anderson Arena has been the home of BGSU men's basketball (while women's basketball and volleyball followed later). The 2010-11 school year was the final one in which the arena will be used for those sports. The volleyball team played its final match in the arena on Oct. 30 and women's basketball closed out the House That Roars on March 2. The men's basketball team played its final regular season contest in Anderson Arena on March 5, but earned one more home game in the MAC Tournament and closed Anderson Arena in fine fashion with a 74-54 win over Northern Illinois.
