COMPLETE RESULTS
While the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team did finish third in a meet with Kentucky and George Washington, they did manage to post a season-high, 193.800 in the tri-meet and destroyed all four season-high event scores for 2011.
Kentucky won the meet with a score of 195.650 and GW was not far off the pace, finishing second with a score of 194.100.
In the loss the Falcons managed to post a season-high team score (193.800) and broke all 2011 scores for each event, scoring 48.625 (vault), 48.225 (bars), 47.950 (beam) and 49.000 (floor). Individually the Falcons had 12 (of 24) scores surpass the 9.700 threshold, also a season-best.
BGSU opened the meet on bars where, as a team, the Falcons scored a 48.225. Senior Amber Brewer posted a season-best 9.825, finishing fifth overall in the meet. Brewer's score ranks ninth in school-history. Overall, all six Falcons posted at least a 9.400 with Kasey Fillmore scoring a 9.725, Monica Eaton (9.700), Lindsay Koch (9.550) and Sunny Marchand scoring a 9.425. Freshman Megan Harrington's 9.400 would not count towards the team score.
In rotation two the Orange and Brown moved over to the balance beam, an event that has seen many ups and downs throughout the year. Friday night was a big “up” with the Falcons scoring a 47.900, smashing the Falcons' previous-high in 2011 (47.175 versus Kent State). Danielle Wishart finished fifth with a score of 9.750 to lead BGSU. Harrington scored a 9.625 and Dawn Christman followed with a 9.600 to finish ninth and 13th.
BGSU couldn't ask for much more on the floor exercise after the team scored a 49.000. Wishart finished second after scoring a 9.850, while Megan Valentini and Christman were fifth (9.800), followed by Harrington and Marchand who scored 9.775's.
The Falcons had one final event before securing a solid meet as they moved over to vault. Wishart continued her best performance of the season, finishing in a tie for first with a score of 9.850. Marchand was fourth (9.825) and Christman was seventh (9.775).
Fillmore finished sixth in the all-around with a score of 37.625.
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Mount Pleasant for a dual showdown with Central Michigan on Mar. 12 at 2 p.m.
