Christman and Fillmore Advance to Regionals

Dawn Christman and Kasey Fillmore, two members of the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will be traveling to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2011 Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama. The one-day event is schedule to begin on Apr. 2 at 6 p.m. inside the Coleman Coliseum.
Christman will be competing on the floor exercise where she has been more than impressive this season. The junior is coming off a sixth-place finish at the MAC Championships after scoring a 9.825, a score the Pottstown, Penn., native made a habit of scoring. The previous week versus Central Michigan Christman recorded the same 9.825 to finish fourth and secured that same mark at Nebraska back on Feb. 27.
In all, the junior has scored at least a 9.800 in each of her last five meets, including a first-place finish versus Ball State on Feb. 20. Christman has made a habit of winning on the floor, which includes a first-place finish at the 2010 MAC Championships after scoring a 9.850.
Fillmore will be competing in the all-around in Tuscaloosa. The senior has competed in all four events in each of the last six meets, and is coming off her best two performances of 2011. Fillmore scored a 38.525 versus Central Michigan two weeks ago and a 38.475 at the MAC Championships this past weekend.
Fillmore's season-bests on each of the four events are a 9.725 on bars (at Kentucky), a 9.750 on beam (vs. Kent State), a 9.700 on floor (at MAC Championships) and a 9.600 on vault (at Central Michigan).
