The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team dropped a 194.925-188.975 decision on Sunday afternoon to Kent State. The dual meet was held inside Anderson Arena.
The Falcons posted a 47.125 on the vault to begin the meet, but competed shorthanded with just five competitors due to several injuries. Senior Amber Brewer led the team with a 9.550, finishing fifth overall. Leah Miko, Kasey Fillmore and Megan Valentini also posted 9.525's.
BGSU (1-4, 0-3 MAC) moved over to the uneven parallel bars in rotation two and posted a team score of 46.800. Freshman Lindsey Koch (9.600) and junior Monica Eaton (9.500) finished seventh and eighth overall to lead the Orange and Brown.
The third event of the afternoon was the balance beam, where the Falcons scored a 47.175, led by junior Kasey Fillmore's 9.750, finishing in a tie for third-place. Freshman Megan Harrington recorded a new personal-best with a 9.650 to finish in a tie for sixth.
Valentini led the way for the Falcons on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.750 to finish fourth. Fillmore was sixth (9.700) and Koch was eighth (9.650). Overall BGSU recorded a 47.775 team score while competing with just five gymnasts.
Up next for the Falcons will be a trip to Ypsilanti, Mich. for a showdown with fellow Mid-American Conference opponent, Eastern Michigan, on Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
