The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell 192.325-187.750 to Ball State on Sunday afternoon in Anderson Arena. It was the final home meet of the season for the Orange and Brown.
Despite the loss the Falcons came away with three individual awards on bars, beam and floor.
Also of note, the Falcons celebrated senior day, with a trio of Falcons saying goodbye to Anderson Arena: Kasey Fillmore, Lexi Psichopaidas and Amber Brewer. Fillmore had her best meet of the season, finishing third in the all-around with a score of 38.150. Brewer was scheduled to compete in three events but suffered an injury during warm-ups.
BGSU began the day on beam where they posted a team score of 47.400, competing with just five gymnasts. Sophomore Danielle Wishart finished second with a 9.750, while fellow classmate Sunny Marchand was fourth with a 9.725.
Moving over to bars was a struggle for the Orange and Brown, but Monica Eaton came through in a big way, capturing the event with a 9.675.
Freshman Megan Harrington won the balance beam with a 9.700 and Fillmore and Wishart finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 9.550.
The third and final event won by BGSU was the floor exercise when Dawn Christman finished in a tie for first with a 9.800. Freshman Megan Valentini was not far behind, scoring a 9.725, finishing third,
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Lincoln, Neb., for a showdown with Nebraska, Iowa and Kentucky. The four-team meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27.
