Falcons Will Don Throwback Look On the Ice

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – With a new coaching staff, ten new pairs of skates on the ice and portions of the BGSU Ice Arena receiving a makeover leading into the 2010-11 season, it only made sense to also give the uniforms a new look, kind of. The Falcons will be wearing new sweaters when they take the ice on Oct. 3 against Wilfrid Laurier University that provide a throwback look reminiscent of the “glory days” of the 1980s. Fans may also purchase their own sweater featuring a few of the most storied numbers of former Falcon greats.

The new jerseys will closely resemble the style and color patterns used by the National Champion 1984 hockey team. When the team takes to the road, they will dawn their brown sweaters with twin orange and white striping around the waistline and elbows. The away jerseys will be laced with orange numbers outlined in white and the team will wear white striped tube socks. Players will be wearing brown pant with a three-stripe pattern alternating between orange and white stripes.

When at home, that pattern will be reversed. For all home games the Falcons will model white sweaters with brown and orange striping, brown numbers with orange outlining and white tube socks. Brown pant will be worn with the home uniform with the same three-stripe pattern alternating white and orange. On both sweaters the current official BGSU Athletics logo is placed on each shoulder.

Across the front of the jersey are the words “Bowling” and “Green” with each player's number placed in between the lettering in a three-line format. On each player's back will be his last name, fully spelled.

Beginning the second week of October, SBX and the BGSU Bookstore will be selling replica jerseys dawning the new throwback look both in-store and online. Jerseys will also be available in the BGSU Ice Arena Pro Shop. Further details on price and availability are still pending.
