Leady and Schmitz Speak Out on Senior Day
Over the last five years, nine seniors have guided the BGSU baseball program to a combined record of 135-100-1 overall and a conference ledger of 69-61. In the last three years alone, these men were the core of a larger group that has brought back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular season championships in the last two seasons and over the last three years has posted a MAC record of 51-25 (.671), best among any MAC team in that time frame.
Collectively, this senior class has accounted for over 1,600 total bases, over 675 runs scored, 673 RBI, 113 home runs and over 300 extra base hits in nearly 1,110 games played over the last five season. Together, this group has a class batting average of .325, higher than many individuals in the conference alone.
On Saturday (5/22), this senior class will attempt to accomplish a feat no BGSU senior class has even achieved before and take at least a share of the MAC East title for three consecutive seasons. With a win over the Buffalo Bulls today, they will accomplish the phenomenon and continue to rewrite history within the program's record books.
This group of seniors include Mark Galvin, #T.J. Blanton#, Derek Spencer, Richie O'Brien, Brandon McFarland, David Borcherdt, Logan Meisler, Dennis Vaughn and Kevin Leady.
Kevin Leady was gracious enough to join BGSUFalcons.com for a special sneak peek into the man under the cap as we learn more about one of the integral parts of this year's squad that leads the team in wins (8), innings pitched (87.1) and strikeouts (65). Also joining the program on such a special occasion on senior day is head coach Danny Schmitz, who took the time to talk about each of his graduating seniors.
