LAST TIME OUT ...
... the Falcons were out on the road during the Thanksgiving holiday to participate in the longest lasting holiday tournament hosted by Rennselaer. To open the 60th Annual RPI Holiday Tournament, BGSU defeated Alabama-Huntsville for the third time this season by a count of 5-1. All points, except for Wade Finegan's late goal, were scored by the freshman and sophomore classes. Four Falcons had multiple points in the game, including Jordan Samuels-Thomas (1g, 1a) and Brett Mohler (2a). Jake Sloat scored his first collegiate goal while Nick Eno stopped 19-of-20 shots on the night in the win. Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss was one of the more well-played Saturday games the Falcons has been a part of this season. In the tournament championship game against nationally-ranked Rennselaer, the Falcons fell behind early, 2-0, before Samuels-Thomas halved the lead while on the power play late in the second period. Despite the physical play of the Engineers, Bowling Green scraped and clawed through the enitre third period to get an offensive edge. In the last thirty seconds of the third period, BGSU pulled goaltender Andrew Hammond and sent an extra attacker out on the ice. With seconds ticking away, Brett Mohler tossed a longshot toward the RPI cage and senior David Solway tipped the puck into the net with just 9.7 seconds remaining in the game, forcing overtime. Despite the dramatic conclussion of regulation, RPI ended the game just 20 seconds into overtime when winning a faceoff deep in the BG zone and immediate ly scored the game-winning goal, tallied by tournament MVP Brian Brutlag.
THE SERIES: BGSU vs. LSSU
The all-time series between the Lakers and Falcons rests with Bowling Green, who have an all-time record of 71-64-8 against Lake Superior State. The Lakers have won the last three meetings and swept the Falcons last year. Over the last 15 meetings, Lake Superior has a 11-3-1 over the Falcons and have defended Taffy Abel Arena well, defeating the Falcons five times in their last eight trips up to the Upper Peninsula.

Bowling Green defeated Alabama-Huntsville for the third time this season, 5-1, and in the process brought home win #800 while advancing to the championship round of the 60th Annual RPI Holiday Tournament. Here are a list of what coach brought home milestone wins for the Falcon program:

Win #800 - Chris Bergeron (Nov. 26, 2010 -- vs. Alabama-Huntsville, 5-1)
HOLY MOHLEY!
Freshman Brett Mohler (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has been on a tear recently with his play over the last three weeks. He became the Falcons' first player to score multiple goals in the same game when he had a pair against nationally-ranked Miami on Nov. 19, one of which being a short-handed goal. He had a four-game point streak going from Nov. 6 until last Saturday night when it was halted by the RedHawks. During the holiday tournament at RPI last weekend, he added four assists to his line after posting a pair in each game of the tournament against Alabama-Huntsville and RPI. Since the sixth, he has four goals and five assists and a season line of 4-5-9. He has now posted a pair of point in three of his last four games (2g, 4a, 6p) and has scored a point or more in seven of his last eight games.
MOHLER REWARDED WITH ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS
After a four point performance while at the RPI Holiday Tournament last weekend, Brett Mohler was named the CCHA Rookie of the Week on Monday, Nov. 29. This is his first career conference accolade.
SAMUELS-THOMAS NAMED TO RPI HOLIDAY ALL-TOURNEY TEAM
After scoring twice and adding an assist during Bowling Green's second place finish at the RPI Holiday Tournament last weekend, Jordan Samuels-Thomas (South Windsor, Conn.) was named to the All-Tournament Team. He was the only non-RPI player to be named to the squad.
PLENTY OF POWER PLAY
Take out the Miami series where the Falcons struggled offensively the entire weekend and the power play unit has turned around since the start of the season. Removing the Miami series, over their last six games they have scored an average of one PPG per game. In their last six games overall (reinsert the Miami series) they are 5-for-28 on the PP (.179), a leap ahead of their .103 seasonal average. In the tournament held last weekend alone, the Falcons went 3-for-9 (.333) on the PP -- and held their opponents scoreless on six power play attempts.
FRESHMEN GETTING SOME CCH-ATTENTION
With a large sum of its players being first-year players, their contributions to the team's success are both crucial and receiving attention around the league. Two Falcon freshmen have found themselves on the top freshmen scorers list in Camden Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) and Brett Mohler (Yorba Linda, Calif.). Both are in a tie for fourth in total scoring (by points) with Wojtala's 3-7-10 line and Mohler's line of 5-5-10.
Mohler is in a tie for fourth-most goals scored by a freshman within the CCHA, overall this season (5). In conference competition, his four goals is tied for second-most among freshman. He is fifth in conference PPG (2). During just CCHA games, Wojtala has a 2-5-7 line ranking sixth in conference scoring among freshmen and tied for ninth in power-play points with four.
WOJ-NELLY!!
Wojtala added to his point total with a goal and an assist on Friday night, increasing his point total to ten for the year (3g, 7a). He has now scored a point in six of his last nine games and has put up multiple point nights in two of his last four games.
