January 09, 2010 | Women's Basketball
A few notes following BGSU's 77-42 win at Ohio Saturday (Jan. 9) ...
* BGSU's 35-point margin of victory tied a season high ... the Falcons downed Chicago State by 35 points, 76-41, in the season opener on Nov. 13 at Anderson Arena.
* The victory was BG's most lopsided in a MAC game, and in a conference road game, since an 85-44 win at Buffalo on Feb. 17, 2007.
* The Falcons' win was the most lopsided in series history ... BG had won a 34-point decision in March of 1992, downing the Bobcats by a 91-57 final.
* Ohio is the fifth opponent to be held to fewer than 50 points by the BGSU defense ... the Falcons held only three teams to under 50 points during all of last season.
* The Ohio game marked the 36th time a Curt Miller-coached BGSU squad has held the opponent to fewer than 50 points ... Miller has been the Falcons' coach for eight years and 16 games ... prior to his arrival in Northwest Ohio, it had taken 22 seasons to amass 30 such games ... BGSU teams held the opponents to fewer than 50 points on a total of 30 occasions from 1979-80 to 2000-01.

* In fact, BGSU held Ohio's top-three scorers to that three-point total ... the 'Cats' third-leading scorer, Da'Keisha Mann, entered Saturday's game averaging 8.3 ppg, but was held scoreless ... Mann played just 16 minutes before fouling out in the late going.
* With 17 points in the win, junior Lauren Prochaska has moved into sole possession of 12th place on the BGSU career scoring list ... Prochaska now has 1,380 points in her career ... she moved past Stephanie Coe (1,363 points from 1983-87), and her next target is 11th-place Angie Bonner, who had 1,412 points from 1987-90.
* The Falcons are now 7-2 in MAC road openers under Curt Miller, and BGSU has won the first conference road game in each of the last seven years ... the Falcons last loss in the league road opener was a 78-58 setback at Northern Illinois in 2002-03.
